My mom made this case for my portfolio. Good thing mothers day is coming up, I’ll be sure to get her something good.

I finally finished my handmade print portfolio over the weekend. It came out better then I expected.

I had a mixed media portrait assignment in my illustration class so I chose my sister as the subject. I scanned in my pencil drawing and some handmade paper that I had and then put it together and colored it digitally. Here are some of the different variations that I came up with while experimenting.

So this is my line up for my 60’’s mod style Princess and the Pea.

I honestly can’t stop listening to this song right now. 

This is the full line up for my UPA style Princess and the Pea. I only needed three characters, but I felt like I needed the mom in there so I just drew her real quick and added her in. 

In some versions of Princess and the Pea there is a “helper” character that tells the princess about the pea. This character is usually a cat or dog, I chose to make my helper a dog. He is fed up with the crazy mom and determined to get the prince and princess together.

This is my UPA “prince” who is a total of a mamma’s boy but still in love with a girl who isn’t a princess. What is he to do?

This is my take on a modern day Princess and the Pea in UPA style. My princess is  just a regular girl in love with the son of crazy (and) protective mother who will only let her son marry a princess. My first time doing UPA style so I’m not sure how true to the style it is.

I got a class assignment a while ago to do a poster that included a photograph. I don’t usually use photography in my work so it was a bit of a challenge, but once I got started it was a lot of fun. 

I love these fruit bus stops in Konagai, Japan. There were 16 stops in the shapes of watermelons, strawberries, tomatoes, oranges and melons built for the 1990 Travel Expo. Apparently the inspiration for the fruit bus stops came from the pumpkin carriage in the story of Cinderella.

Ikea train jacked a Kobe’ Portliner monorail to advertise their new mega store on Port Island.  This is such a cool and creative idea.
